1. Swedish Egg Coffee
It is believed that this recipe originated from Swedish settlers in America. In the old days, many Americans would make "cowboy coffee" by throwing the grounds in a pot of boiling water. It worked, but often made for quite a gritty cup of coffee. By adding an egg to that recipe, the grounds stay at the bottom of the pot, leaving you with a clear cup of coffee.
Ingredients:
  • Water, to preference
  • Coffee grounds, to preference
  • 1 egg.
Directions
1. Measure out your desired amount of water into into a saucepan and bring to a rolling boil.
2. Get a bowl and measure out your desired amount of coffee grounds - usually 1 tablespoon per cup of water, but the exact ratio is up to you.
3. Crack an egg into the grounds and stir until they reach a mud-like consistency. You may have to add a bit of water if it's too thick.
4. Return to your boiling water and reduce the heat to medium.
5. Stir in the coffee and egg mixture, then let simmer for about three minutes - longer if you want stronger coffee.
6. Turn the heat off, but don't remove the pan. Let it sit for another three minutes. During this time, the grounds will sink to the bottom.
7. Carefully pour the coffee into a large mug and serve.
